Hi my name is Jackie and I am the owner and creator of Cattus Toys! But, I never could have made this passion of mine a reality without the help and support of my lovely family! Let me tell you our story.

Cat + Cactus = Cattus! That's because the first toy I ever made was a cactus for our cat Pickles. The idea started when my husband and I were shopping for cat toys at the big box pet store. We knew we needed fresh cat toys to keep our little menace in check, but we also hated how ugly, expensive and quickly she would go through them. So I got my little crafty brain going and decided to make my own cat toys out of felt, some stuffing from an old pillow and catnip. Turned out pretty cute and I really enjoyed making them with my hands, and so I made a few more for my friends and then the rest is history!

At the time the shop was a great help to our family. Having a period of serious health issues, Cattus Toys allowed me to work at my own pace, be creative and give a meaningful contribution the the family. Speaking of family, they all loved the project and wanted to be a part of it too!

My husband Matthew is such a support! From running to the post office to get the packages in the mail, to researching better packaging materials, bouncing ideas off of and of course the countless runs to the craft stores to get more supplies.

It was on one specific out of town supply run where my mother-in-law Debbie realized how much I was paying for store bought catnip. Being an excellent gardener both professionally and as a hobby, she asked me if she could grow, harvest and process some catnip for me. At first, I was hesitant, it really seemed like too much work. But, she reassured me she really wanted to! That was one of the best decisions ever made for Cattus Toys! Fresh homegrown catnip doesn't even compare to the stuff you can buy in stores. It's actually smells so good, herby and sweet (cat's also agree!). So, every year she grows it in her garden, harvests it, leaves it to dry in the barn loft and then by hand breaks it up and bags it for me (and you!).

The shop is a true family business. Each member of our family has found unique ways to contribute to it's success. We love working on Cattus Toys together, and each time we do, we are strengthening our family bonds at the same time.

Our Shop now has over 7,000 sales, over 1800 positive reviews. We love making cute cat toys together and for our growing customer base and we hope to continue to do so furrrrrrrever!
